About Me

I am Pamela Desin: wife, mother, grandmother, counselor, educator, truth and justice seeker, and life-long student. I have worked in public, private, and government sectors. Having worked on a dementia unit, with hospice, and having a counseling background, I easily adapt to other people’s needs. I consider myself a caregiver, whether of people, plants, or animals. I have raised two children into productive adults, and have several grandchildren. I believe we are here to be of service to others, and try my best to make the world a better place wherever I am.

I am an empath, so I began my academic career pursuing an associate degree in Human Services. I then completed a bachelor degree in Human Relations. My master’s degree is in counseling, with a focus on community, and marriage and family therapy. I also have experience with addiction and school counseling, and grief and bereavement counseling. I believe people labeled as criminals are really in need of a humanistic intervention. Hurt people will often hurt other people, and people who hurt others need healing.

On my own life journey, I have met wonderful families suffering from a different kind of victimization. They are victimized by a system that would rather punish than rehabilitate, shame and blame rather than help. The reasons are many, but my goal is to help break the cycle of victim-turned-monster in our society. I have developed workshops about defining boundaries, goals, and protection, the necessity of performing self-care, and how to use your voice to define your own narrative and share your journey freely, regardless what it looks like. I am actively engaged in advocacy and hold many positions of honor; in other words, I am honored to hold those positions. We need to help others heal if we are going to solve the over-incarceration and mental health crises in this country, two things that go hand-in-hand and lead to destruction of the family unit. Things must change, and I am not alone in thinking this way. Therefore, I created these workshops to help people understand themselves and set boundaries with others. These workshops are for anyone, everyone, and especially… you.
